Broadcat Tech 1 is a really fun class. I enjoy making videos and using cameras so thats why I chose this class. Today is the last day we have in this class and I'm really going to miss it. I think my favorite part of this class was the 6 word story because I like creative things like that, things that have a lot of meaning. If I had the chance to change anything in this class I dont think I would really change anything except I would maybe give a little more time for the 6 word story. I really had fun in this class and I am considering taking B-Tech 2 next year. This class was a great experience over all.

A couple of weeks ago students walked out of class at Ladue High School, protesting the racism and discrimination going on during the schoolday. I interviewed two students and got footage from the protest, and put it together into this story, though I wasn't only at the protest to film, I had already planned on going. Listening to those students really shows a different perspective, and I tried my best to show Tajah's perspective, as well as the basketball teams's.
For my Interview an Expert project I helped interview Faith Bland about her basketball team and the recent protests at Ladue High School. I used the rule of thirds to keep her face in the right place, and a microphone to make sure I could hear her (unlike the last time). Interviewing someone on the basketball team was interesting because they were the ones who organized the second protest, and one of their team members has been very outspoken about this topic. I wish the questions could've been better (they weren't mine) so I could've maybe gotten better answers.
Hey, You, See, So is the formula for a good story. Hey grabs your attention, You is what it has to do with you, See is the facts, and So is why you should care. Watching the Soul Food video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Er4QmKxRYoU ) what grabs your attention is is the type of person Susanne is, saying she's a sunny person and things like that. The facts are all in the middle, answering questions like what? (feeds people) and who? (everyone). Why you should care is because she sets a good example of what people should be like. She feeds people who need it and people who don't, in her house, for free. Another video that uses Hey, You, See, So is the Football video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ejh_hb15Fc ) What grabs your attention is immediate, starting off with words like "schemed" and "conspired". The facts are also in the middle explaining the plan to help a disabled student make a touchdown. At the end the boys show how they felt about it, with a couple of tears from one. That is the 'So' and 'You'. A lot of these videos were sad, and it's hard to believe these were all chosen randomly.
My six word story is: A Smile. Distraction. A Crash. Sirens. It was hard to film considering I didn't have a lot of time to get the shots, and also it was hard to come up with ideas for the shots. The story itself I think is meaningful. It shows the consequences of texting and driving in the video, but if you really think about it it can be about almost anything that needs focus.
The concept of six word stories was created by Ernest Hemingway. Legend has it that he was at lunch with friends when he made a ten dollar bet that he could write a novel in six words. It ended up being "For sale: baby shoes, never worn." I interpret it as meaning someone is being offered a new life with the "baby shoes". Babies represent new life, with millions of possibilities and paths ahead.
The video scavenger was really fun to film, walking around the school finding creative ways to make something simple like a vending machine look so much cooler. It also taught me some new film techniques.
A video about me, Taymae. Simple basic information that goes on any 'about me' project.
